Astalos is a Large Monster in Monster Hunter Rise (MHR). It is a returning Monster in the Sunbreak Expansion that debuted in Monster Hunter Generations. Large Monsters are hostile and are usually the primary objective of Hunts. They provide valuable Materials when defeated. One hit is all it takes to extinguish fragile life.
When struck by its lightning, the effect will endure until death.
An example of its violent, murderous nature.
No matter how many lives are sacrificed it will never subside.
As if the copious amounts of blood it shed can never be enough.
MH Rise Astalos Characteristics & Locations
Large Flying Wyverns with crest-shaped organs that let them control vast amounts of electricity. Astalos vibrate these organs on their head, forked tail, and brilliant wings to charge the respective body part with electricity, yielding tremendous strength and an amplified attack range. Violent to a fault, witnesses have observed them using all their might to drive intruders from their territory.

Attacks with their head, wings, or tail will be charged with electricity. The movement, attack range, and strength of each part changes when electrified; when all parts are charged, these creatures become particularly dangerous, so targeting electrified parts to dispel their charge is essential.

Quick Combat Tips
- Bring Armor that is mainly resistant to Thunder damage.
- Astalos is weaker against Ice damage, so gear up for that.
- Astalos does not perform many melee attacks so focus more on its mouth and tail to predict its attack better.
- When Astalos flies around, it generally means that it will make an explosive attack with an AoE around it. As you also cannot continue attacking it as its out of range its generally recommneded that you move away quickly.
MH Rise Astalos Attacks & Moveset
Quick Bite - Performs a quick bite to a target in front of it.
Thunder Barrier - Roars launching an orb that transforms into vertical thunders that move around and multiply a few times.
Thundertail - Starts flying close to the ground and then nails its tail to the ground, charging a sudden thunder attack around itself.
Thunderdrag - Flies towards its target charging its mouth full of thunder, to the ground and drags it forward a bit more.
Thunder Beam - Charges its mouth upwards and then throws a beam to a target that lasts for a short moment.
Tail Swing - Hammers its tail to an enemy behind, sticking it to the ground perform thunder damage.
Swing - Swings at enemies with a wing.
Spinning Swing - Performs a quick spin charged with thunder hitting its targets around it with its tail.
Thunder Smash - Flies up charging thunder energy and that heavily lands on a target performing thunder damage in a big area around.
Thunderwing - Rarely it may attack you using its wingarms hitting the ground towards a target dealing Thunder damage.

He still does one attack right before he dies during his death animation. Does no damage but knocks you over and kinda sad

7th astalos and still no mantle....Well, still not as bad as Tri's Rathalos Ruby.
Probably my favorite monster and favorite fight in the game. It's just pure fun as an IG user.
