Bishaten is a Large Monster that appears in Monster Hunter Rise (MHR or MHRise). Bishaten is a large flying wyvern with a unique combination of fur, feathers, and scales that gives it a unique and intimidating appearance. It can be found in the Shrine Ruins, which is the same area where players will find the Great Izuchi. It is also a popular spot for gathering materials, as well as for hunting monsters.
Bishaten has a wide variety of attacks, including ramming its body into its foes, using its tail to swing around and cause large amounts of damage, and even spitting out fruit bombs. Its most dangerous tactic, however, is to fly up into the air and dive bomb its target. The Bishaten is extremely agile and can dodge attacks easily. It is also capable of quickly changing direction and catching its prey off guard.
Large Monsters like Bishaten are hostile and are usually the primary objective of Hunts. They provide valuable Materials when defeated.

Quick Combat Tips
- Bishaten's head and tail are its most vulnerable spots. Keep pressure on these whenever you have the chance to knock it down and set up an opening for punishment.
- Its wings are particularly vulnerable to cutting and blunt damage, while it is weak to ice and thunder attacks
- Bishaten will frequently change stances between regular and standing on its tail, gaining access to varying moves depending on the stance it is currently in.
- Knocking Bishaten down while it is on its tail will make it drop a bunch of fruits. Picking these up can prove beneficial as you can use them to provide certain effects.
- Bishaten will periodically use a Flash Fruit to stun hunters. Watch out when you see a crackling yellow glow as it covers its face with its wings.
- Bishaten can cling onto walls and the sides of cliffs using its tail. Use a Flash Bomb or a well-aimed aerial attack to knock it down and leave it open.
- Bring along some Antidotes or Herbal Medicine to get rid of the Poison effect it can inflict.
Bishaten Attacks & Moveset
Switch Stance - Bishaten can switch stances between regular (on all fours) and standing on its tail. While in tail stance, the Bishaten is very susceptible to knockdowns by repeated hits on its tail. Certain attacks are only available while in tail stance and certain moves will automatically transition to tail stance.
Bishaten Fruit - Bishaten hoards and stores several special fruit with varying properties. It frequently uses these fruit to attack hunters. It can use the following types of fruit:
- Poison Fruit (Purple) - Inflicts Poison on hit. If dropped by Bishaten, hunters can pick these up and toss them at the monster to poison it.
- Jumbo Fruit (Orange) - Deals light damage and knocks players away on impact. If dropped by Bishaten, hunters can pick these up and consume them for healing equivalent to that of a Potion.
- Parafruit (Green) - Inflicts Paralysis on hit. If dropped by Bishaten, hunters can pick these up and toss them at the monster to paralyze it. This fruit can only drop in High Rank and is quite rare.
- Flash Fruit (Yellow) - Stuns hunters in a wide radius. If dropped by Bishaten, hunters can pick these up and use them similarly to a Flash Bomb.
Fruit Attacks - Bishaten has a lot of different fruit attacks at its disposal and some are used exclusively with certain fruit:
- Strafe Toss - Bishaten will comically shuffle sideways as it tosses a Poison Fruit at its target.
- Disengage - Bishaten jumps a distance backwards as it tosses a Jumbo Fruit at its target.
- Double Fruit Toss - Bishaten pulls out two Jumbo Fruit, grabs them with its tail and then spins and tosses them at its target.
- Bishaten Flash - Bishaten covers its face with its wings as a crackling yellow glow becomes visible. It then leaps upward and performs a flip, smashing a Flash Fruit on the ground in front of it. The flash covers a wide radius and will stun hunters in range.
- Parafruit Smash - Bishaten pulls out a green Parafruit, grabs it with its tail and performs a front flip as it smashes its tail and the front on the ground in front of it. The Parafruit bursts into a cloud of paralytic chemicals which will paralyze on contact. Several chunks will also fly out to either side of impact, creating additional clouds for a wider overall effect. The paralysis clouds will persist for a few seconds so be careful not to walk into them.
- Multi-Fruit Barrage - Bishaten stands on its tail and pulls out a Jumbo Fruit in one hand and a Poison Fruit in the other. It tosses them both and then proceeds to bombard the area in front of it with dozens of fruit.
- Claw Swipe - Standard claw swipe attack. Bishaten raises an arm and swipes at its target. When enraged, it can follow up with a second swipe and a tail slam attack.
- Tail Slam - Bishaten postures and then performs a back flip, slamming its tail on the ground towards hunters. This move has a long telegraph, allowing you to dodge to either side long before the attack comes.
- Backflip Dash - Bishaten stands on one hand facing its target and then dashes forward as it performs several backflips, kicking with its tail on each rotation. If enraged, the Bishaten will perform a second dash returning to its original starting point.
- Whirlwind Dash - Bishaten winds up by twisting its body as it stands on its tail. It then dashes forward while spinning violently. A direct hit from this attack sends the hunter flying and stuns them. Note that the Bishaten produces wind pressure on the outer hitbox of this attack which will flinch hunters if they are close enough, even if the attack doesn't directly hit them.

Bishaten Notes & Trivia

Am I crazy or does he never drop the parafruit? I have never had it happen in any of my hunts and the link to the item seems to be broken

My favorite monster in rise so far (urgent quest). Really like its design and moves. It pockets are infinite though, since it will spam several times its weight in fruit.
can we cut it tail?
