Skills in Monster Hunter Rise(MHR) refer to abilities, buffs and bonuses granted to Hunters by their equipped Weapons, Armor, Talismans, as well as Decorations. The benefits granted by Skills include persistent boosts to stats like Attack Power and Affinity, providing temporary buffs when performing certain actions, and even modifying a Weapon's properties like granting additional Phials for Charge Blades. Skills are an essential part of a hunt and play an integral role in a Hunter's progression.
- Each piece of equipment can have one or more Skills attached and each Skill on a piece of equipment can provide 1 or more levels of the skill. Each level equipped contributes to the Skill's overall effect.
- All Skills have a maximum level, after which, additional levels in the skill will provide no further benefit.
- Many Skills have only 1 level and provide their full benefit immediately upon equipping while other skills have varying levels of effects and can have additional effects at higher levels.

Armor Skills
These are skills that provide stat bonuses to hunters that are incorporated into armor, talismans, and decorations. Each of these have unique skill points in them. You may mix your armors and talismans in decorations to make it work with your current build based on your playstyle. Having multiple armor, talismans, and decorations that has similar skills will accumulate Skill Points and level up that same skill, increasing their stat bonuses and effects.
Which are the Best Skills?
There is no such thing as best skills in Monster Hunter Rise(MHR), because it is important to note the vast array of Skills available in the game might suit better certain playstyles or Builds rather than other ones.
The huge amount of Skills, paired with any of the 14 Weapons available in the game, and the almost limitless Armor Sets at the hunters' disposal, really allow players the ability to customize and explore an enormous amount of possibilities and options regarding how to play and face the biggest challenges in the world of Monster Hunter Rise(MHR).
Decorations
Decorations are gems that you can slot into your gear, which can boost different armor skills. This is a way to upgrade your armor, once you've unlocked High Rank Gear, you can create these decorations and wear equip them into some of your armor and weapons. Decoration slots can only accept decorations that are the same decoration level or below them. Each decoration has different skills, crafting materials, and cost of zenny. They also either require Bloodrun Jewels or Aquaflow Jewels, you will get these as rewards by completing High Rank hunts. As you hunt more monsters in the game, you'll start unlocking more decorations, you can craft multiple decorations to put in a single piece of gear, as long as they can accommodate enough slots.
How do I check my active skills?
Hunters can check their active Skills at any given time by accesing the menu and then selecting the Status option. In the following window, you can see all the Skills that you have active on your character, and their respective levels. You can browse the menu by pressing or
to navigate it. The highest level Skills will be displayed at the top and, they will be ordered in a decreasing fashion, up to the lowest level Skill active.
By pressing the right stick, a Skill Level Breakdown table will be displayed, showing which pieces of Armor, Weapon, or even Decorations are granting the hunter any Skill and at which level. This is useful to check on which pieces of equipment are granting players the Skills they desire, and which should be replaced towards their desired Build.

I dunno. The skills feel lacking and largely boring. No unique armor skills, many decos take 2 slots, armor is stingy on slots and locks you into a specific build/skill combo. World did skills and armor better.

Has the Fortunate effect been identified yet for full Wind/Thunder Alignment?
I'm really struggling with a good HH set outside Kulu because everything else has a focus on gauges.
Kinda sucks with it feeling much better weapon wise now.
