Burst is a Skill in Monster Hunter Rise (MHR). Burst provides a flat raw and elemental damage bonus of +5 after landing the first hit in a combo. A larger boost is granted after successfully landing 5 more hits on a target within a short window. The degree of this larger boost varies by weapon. This skill has 3 Levels. Skills are granted to Hunters by their equipped Weapons, Armor, Talismans and Decorations and play an integral role in a Hunter's progression.
Burst Effect
Burst is increased in level based on the amount of Equipment with this skill the hunter is using. Each level works as follows:
- Level 1: Upon attack hit, temp attack +5, element +5; hit 5 successive times for an extra stat boost.
- Level 2: Upon attack hit, temp attack +5, element +5; hit 5 successive times for an even bigger stat boost.
- Level 3: Upon attack hit, temp attack +5, element +5; hit 5 successive times for a huge stat boost.
Burst has a maximum of 3 Levels, after which, additional levels in the skill will no longer provide any further benefit.

Haven't seen anyone else comment on this; I HAD assumed Burst was just a new name for an armor-skill version of "Chain Crit" like in previous games, but as it turns out, the "Increased Stats" effect only ups your Raw Attack + Element Attack by a fixed value, with no increase to your Affinity. I COULD be wrong however, but some folks over on the Monster Hunter Meta Reddit have made charts explaining the effect of multiple offensive skills added in Sunbreak INCLUDING Burst.
