The color and effects of the powder will change over time. This skill has 3 Levels. Skills are granted to Hunters by their equipped Weapons, Armor, Talismans and Decorations and play an integral role in a Hunter's progression.
Powder Mantle Effect
Powder Mantle is increased in level based on the amount of Equipment with this skill the hunter is using. Each level works as follows:
- Level 1: Get sent flying when wreathed in red powder and you'll receive explosive damage. Attack when in blue for an explosive finish.
- Level 2: Reduces required hit count.
- Level 3: Further reduces required hit count.

Very good on gunlances, on level 3 you activate very easily just with a full burst and stake
Despite what the level 1 text says, there's no downside for getting hit, the charging process just ends prematurely. At full charge (Blue), your next attack will cause the powder to explode, dealing fixed damage to the monster similar to Blast.
Anything that causes you to flinch will make the powder to ignite (excluding ally attacks), so having skills like Windproof, Earplugs, etc or using moves with hyperarmor like GS's shoulder tackle will stop the powder from detonating prematurely.
