Guard Up is a Skill in Monster Hunter Rise (MHR or MHRise). Guard Up allows you to guard against ordinarily unblockable attacks. and has 3 levels.. Skills are granted to Hunters by their equipped Weapons, Armor, Talismans and Decorations and play an integral role in a Hunter's progression.

 

Guard Up Effect

Guard Up is increased in level based on the amount of Equipment with this skill the hunter is using. Each level works as follows:

Guard Up has 3 levels., after which, additional levels won't provide any further benefit.

      "Reduces damage taken". It really doesn't seem that way, Gaismagorm still does easily half my health on his clap explosions when blocking, and even smaller moves are still chunking me for a good 1/8 of my health at a time. What's the point is getting more than 1 point in this skill if the damage is still the same regardless of the move?

        Is there even any situation were you'd ever want this skill now?
        Not much "guarding" here if it still puts you on your butt
