Quick Combat Guide

  • Great Wroggi is near identical to the Great Baggi. It has almost all the same moves except that its breath and spit projectiles inflict Poison.
  • Great Wroggi expels a poisonous substance from a sac around its neck and uses this attack frequently to whittle down its attackers.
  • The Hunter Notes entry for Great Wroggi states that breaking the sac on its neck will prevent it from producing its poison but this is not true. The Great Wroggi will continue using its poison attacks but they may have less potency after its head and sac are broken.
  • The Great Wroggi will often be accompanied by its Baggi underlings. These Small Monsters can expel the same poisonous substance and should be taken out to reduce the chance of getting afflicted with the ailment.
  • Bring along Antidotes and Herbal Medicine to counteract the poison effect.

Great Wroggi Attacks & Moveset

Poison Spit - Great Wroggi spits out a ball of poison that creates a cloud which persists on the ground for a short period. Has a small radius and is easily avoided.

Poison Breath - Great Wroggi expels a cloud of poison that travels a short distance in front of it before dissipating. The cloud has a large hitbox but has a clear telegraphed by the raising of the Great Wroggi's head, as well as audible cues from your hunter. When enraged, it will often follow this up with its Side Bash attack.

Side Bash - The Great Wroggi turns to its side and shoves its entire body at its target, knocking them away. This move has a large hitbox and hunters should immediately dodge towards the monster's head or tail. Often used as a follow-up to its Poison Breath attack.

Chomp - A basic attack in which the Great Wroggi lunges forward and takes a bite out of its target. Deals light damage and staggers. When enraged, the monster can lunge twice in quick succession.

Double Tail Sweep - The Great Wroggi spins quickly in a 180 degree arc, whipping its tail to knock hunters away. Repeats the move and returns to its original orientation.

Beckoning Call - When alone, the Great Wroggi may beckon to its kin, summoning them to the area. The call does not affect hunters in any way so this is a perfect opportunity to get a few hits in. While the Wroggi it summons are minor threats, they can also inflict the poison status and should not be ignored.
