First-aid Med Mechanics
The following gameplay mechanics apply to this Item:
First-aid Med is considered a Supply Item, which means it can only be acquired from the Supply Box during a quest, and will be automatically removed from the player's inventory upon completion of the current quest.
Using a First-aid Med will restore a little less than a fourth of the hunter's health bar in total (this is assuming that the hunter's health bar is at its maximum capacity). The actual health restoration is split into two parts. The first part will immediately restore a small portion of the hunter's health bar, after which the second part will slowly restore another small portion of the hunter's health bar over the course of about 4 seconds.
Using a First-aid Med will cause the hunter to enter a drinking animation in which the hunter lifts their left hand to their face, tilts their head back, and starts to gulp down liquid, before finally wiping their face with the back of their hand. The drinking animation is a very common animation that is used by a number of other Consumable Items as well.
In total, the entire animation takes about 6 seconds to complete, however the player can choose to end the animation earlier by dodging out of it.
At the beginning of the animation, there is about a 1 second span of time before the first portion of the health restoration described above takes place, immediately restoring a small portion of the hunter's health. If the hunter cancels the animation before the end of this 1 second span of time, the first portion of the health restoration will also be canceled. It should be noted that if the hunter cancels the animation during this 1 second span of time, then the Item they were trying to use will not be consumed/wasted.
Afterwards, the second portion of the health restoration will take place and slowly restore the hunter's health over time. Cancelling the animation during this time will also cancel the second portion of the health restoration, however if the player cancels the animation during this phase of the animation, it will consume the Item they were trying to use.
Interestingly, both portions of the health restoration takes a total of about 5 seconds to complete, while the actual animation takes about 6 seconds to complete. This means that health restoration ends about 1 second earlier than the animation. This is due to the fact that after the hunter drinks whatever item they were using, they will then wipe their face with the back of their hand even though they have already finished consuming the item. Basically, all this means is players can dodge out of the animation right after the hunter finishes drinking whatever item is being used to prevent their hunter from wasting time wiping their face. Doing this still gives the hunter the full effect of whatever item they were using while also reducing the time it takes to use the item by about 1 second.
