MH Rise Sword and Shield Build Guide
Sword & Shield is notably one of the highest DPS raw weapons. Hunters can use Items with their weapons drawn and whilst guarding. It has a fast recovery time, allowing for the chaining of attacks and blocks, at the expense of damage. This puts its strength on raw damage that can be pushed to its full potential when creating a build. Sword & Shield is essentially the best of both worlds when it comes to weapons in Monster Hunter Rise. Between slow hitting weapons that have large motion values and fast hitting weapons that have small motion values, the Sword & Shield falls nicely in between the two, with the ability to utilize a variety of moves that possess both small and large motion values. Describing any one playstyle is somewhat difficult for this weapon due to its versatility. As a result, there are a myriad of skills that are beneficial to Sword & Shield depending on an individual's playstyle. (Lewisriver)
Mh Rise Sword & Shield Elemental / Status or Raw Damage?
Honestly, whether or not you should focus on elemental/status or raw damage for your Sword & Shield build depends entirely on the monster you are hunting and your own personal preference in terms of playstyle. Sword & Shield is capable of dishing out some serious elemental damage thanks to fast hitting attack sequences, and some of its moves like Perfect Rush and Drill Slash even have an element/status modifier that increases elemental/status damage done to monsters. That being said, if you do go for an elemental/status build, it should be noted that attacks done with your shield DO NOT apply element/status, meaning you will be relying solely on your sword for doing damage. If you end up going for a raw damage build however, then it is recommended that you make frequent use of your shield, because the majority of shield attacks have a surprisingly high motion value that allows them to do more raw damage than other attacks. Overall, you can go either way with this weapon, and it honestly won't make too much of a difference except for in very specific situations.
