Qurious Armor Crafting for Monster Hunter Rise (MHR or MHRise) is a feature of the game that revolves around improving your Armor beyond their normal capabilities by Augmenting them. Armor, like Weapons, need to be unlocked first in order to be Augmented. To Augment Armor, Hunters need to spend Essence and money. Unlike Weapons, Armor Augmentation can be resetted.
Unlike Weapons, the results of upgrading Armor via Qurious Crafting aren't fixed. This means that what bonuses an Armor gets are impossible to determine beforehand.
When an Armor Piece is upgraded, the following icon is displayed in the top left corner of the Armor's image.
If you want to learn about Weapons, please refer to Qurious Weapon Crafting.

Qurious Armor Crafting Information
When augmenting armor you can boost its stats, add or upgrade decoration slots, and even add skills, but the results available after Augmentation will be randomized.
The results will change each time you Augment your Armor, so try until you get the results you are satisfied with.
Additionally, armor with a lower rarity will have a greater potential for change when Augmenting.
Try Augmenting various types of armor to create something unique!
Hunters need to deliver 20 Essence in value and spend 2000z in order to unlock the Augmentation for the first time. Price may increase later on, both on Essence value and on .
Augmenting Armor Again
If Hunters decide to upgrade a piece of Armor again, after doing it for the first time, and the new results aren't to their liking, they can still keep the previous version of the Armor piece. Note that Materials and money consumed during the process WILL NOT be returned. A small window message will appear on-screen to alert players before committing.

Differences between Weapon and Armor
Even though there are many similarities, there are also subtle differences between the two main types of equipment when going through this process:
- Armor results are randomized and can't be determined beforehand, while Weapons have fixed upgrades, allowing Hunters to know exactly what they will get when selecting a determined upgrade.
- Weapons require afflicted Materials to be unlocked and upgraded, while Armor uses Essences.
- Weapons CAN NOT be rollbacked once Augmented, while Armor are capable to do so.
- Weapons use Anomaly slots, while Armor pieces don't. This means that Weapons can't exceed beyond the maximum amount of slots they possess (up to five Anomaly Slots), while Armor pieces don't have any limitation regarding the amount of upgrades they can have.
New Augmentations (Patch Ver 13.0.0)
With the MHR Patch Ver 13.0.0 new augmentation have been added to Qurious Armor Crafting:
- Augment: Stability: It is a stable enhancement with no negative effects, where a large increase in defense is more likely to occur. Additionally, Skills will not be changed.
- Skills +: Results with superior skills being added are more likely to occur. It is unlocked at Research level 121.
Boosts and Diminishments
As previously mentioned, Qurious Armor Crafting results are random, this means that hunters CAN'T predict what kind of bonuses they will get. Even in some cases, some stats will go beyond 0 and have a negative effect. Hunters should be aware of this possibility, and thoroughly analyze the results when Augmenting armor, specially comparing them to their character's weaknesses and resistances.
There are 3 types of
Augment:
The following stats of the Armor can be altered by going through this process:
- Defense: Boosts or diminishes the amount of Defense the armor grants against physical attacks.
- Slots: Can increase or reduce the level or amount of Decorations slots the piece or armor grants.
- Fire Resistance: Increases or diminishes the amount of resistance against fire attacks.
- Water Resistance: Increases or diminishes the amount of resistance against water attacks.
- Thunder Resistance: Increases or diminishes the amount of resistance against thunder attacks.
- Ice Resistance: Increases or diminishes the amount of resistance against ice attacks.
- Dragon Resistance: Increases or diminishes the amount of resistance against dragon attacks.
- Skills: May grant or substract one or more Skills to the armor piece of varying level.
