Hellfireblight Effects

Effect on Hunters

If you're inflicted with this status, an explosion will trigger when you get knocked back, or after a certain amount of time has passed, causing serious damage.

Deals more damage than Blastblight.

Effect on Monsters

While the Hellfireblight effect itself cannot be inflicted on monsters, performing a Wiredash to remove the effect will leave the Hellfire effect on the departure spot. This effect will detonate when struck or after a certain amount of time has passed and hunters can bait monsters into attacking the Hellfire or lure them into the area until it detonates, damaging the monster.

Hellfireblight Cures/Prevention

How to Cure Hellfireblight

The Hellfireblight effect can be removed by using a Deodorant.

Alternatively, the hunter can continually evade a number of times. ( left stick switch mhr wiki guide + b button switch mhr wiki guide )

The effect can also be removed by performing a Wiredash or Dual Blades' Shrouded Vault

Hellfireblight Mechanics

Hellfireblight works in a similar way to Blastblight. If left alone for too long or after getting hit, it will explode, damaging hunters. This deals more damage than Blastblight, but hunters can utilize this to their advantage through the usage of their Wirebug. If they dash using their Wirebug it will remove the Hellfireblight, and at the same time leave a cloud of Hellfire which will explode when attacked by a large monster or player, or after being left alone for long enough, the explosion deals damage and knocks down large monsters. The knockdown effect has a cooldown similar to wyvern riding (i.e consecutive Hellfireblight explosions will not knock down a large monster that has already been knocked down recently by one such explosion).

It's kinda cool that (Scorned) Magnamalo isn't the only monster with hellfireblight. It feels like a waste when they introduce a new mechanic only for it to be limited to a specific enemy. On the other hand I'm also kinda glad that stuff like regular Mizu's bubbleblight doesn't exist anywhere else, because it's annoying as hell. lol

The notion that it can't be inflicted on monsters is actually wrong. The effect "Hellfire Cloak" allows you to inflict it on monsters when they are enraged after Skill level 3.
