Buddy Skills are Skills that can be taught to your Palico and Palamute Buddies. The equipped buddy skills can be viewed on your Buddy Info Screen when interacting with a Buddy Expert. Here, you can also view the available Skills to teach. This will also display what kinds of skills there are along with their conditions and effects. Under your Buddy Info, you can view how much Skill memory is needed in order to equip specific skills. More can be unlocked with the buddy expert. Buddy Skills, Support Moves and Secret Support Moves are a new features that were introduced during the Sunbreak Expansion. These can be unlocked by completing various Requests, which are included in Quests.
Unlocking Buddy Skills
Buddy skills can be earned by completing Requests at the quest counter. Requests are small petitions by NPCs that can be completed during a Hub Quest or a Village Quest. They usually involve delivering certain Items, slaying a determined amount of Monsters or even taking a picture of a specified creature.
Equipping Buddy Skills
These Skills can be unlocked, swapped and equipped anytime with the Buddy Expert. Select Buddy Skill Lesson when interacting with the Buddy Expert to change buddy skills. Equipped Buddy Skills cannot be changed. Your skills can then also be viewed at the Buddy Board,
Skill Swap
Skill Swap at the Buddy Expert allows you to swap skills with another buddy. This applies to both Palamute and Palico Buddies. You will also notice an option to Swap Support moves which comes with the same features.
Skill Memory
Skill memory is required to equip skills. You can view the number of skill memory each skill slots by taking a look at the displayed icons next to the Skill titles when viewing each skill. View the Info tab when interacting with the Buddy Expert and it will also display the current number of Skill Memory Slots that you currently have. Skill memory points can be unlocked with the Buddy Expert himself. You will have the option to Increase skill memory, then you will be prompted to choose a Buddy Type. Select which buddy that needs that increased Skill memory. You will need a Eurekacorn for each increase.
Increasing Skill Memory
- Giving Eurekacorn to Buddies helps increase their Skill Memory. A Buddy's Skill Memory can be increased a total of three times.
- You can obtain Eurekacorns from the Meowcenaries (MR only), optional subquests, and other situations.
